Sitting inside one’s own life In that way
where the belly leaks out Into
speckled fruit tree and juicy sunlight
and the blue of the sky
pulls out shards from this heart
til the invitation overwhelms
for this little never-not-here option:
to inhabit the one shared breath of this day,
and to melt into those elusive waters
where brothers and fathers and lovers blend
as if boat and ocean are merged in a flowing
where somehow,
nobody's drowning.
